Introduction to ASP.NET Part 1
The goals of this course are to present the learner with a broad overview of ASP.NET and to give a comprehensive introduction to Web Controls. This course begins by introducing the .NET framework and also the differences between ASP and ASP.NET. After a brief coverage of the ASP.NET platform and features, the first unit covers core elements of ASP.NET - Web Forms, ASP.NET script code, and page events. The student learns how to add server-side script to an ASP.NET page and to add event procedures to the page. Web controls are covered in detail in the second unit, with a lesson each devoted to intrinsic controls and input validation controls. The remaining controls - rich, list-bound, and custom - are covered in the final lesson. Students learn to use different types of Web controls in their applications.
Introduction to ASP.NET Part 2
The goal of this course is to provide the learner with instruction on using ADO.NET to access data, on separating code from content, and on using the ASP.NET trace feature. The first unit focuses on using ADO.NET to access data from various data sources and allows the learner to practice displaying and customizing data display. The course then describes the different methods of separating code from content. Students learn to create code-behind classes, add user controls to ASP.NET pages, and use components in ASP.NET applications. The final unit covers the two tracing techniques in ASP.NET: page-level tracing and application-level tracing. Students learn to enable and disable tracing and to add custom trace messages to ASP.NET pages and middle-tier components.
Introduction to ASP.NET Part 3
The goal of this course is to cover Web services and enhancing the functionality of Web applications by using ASP.NET. The first unit introduces the concept of Web services. The student learns to call and use a Web service and to create a Web service using Microsoft Visual Basic. The second unit covers enhancing Web application functionality. Technologies such as state maintenance, caching, and authentication, are covered. The learner has the opportunity to deploy an ASP.NET application.
